CompassTrack Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

CompassTrack is a tactical GPS navigation and situational awareness application designed for offline navigation, waypoint management, field operations, and optional team coordination. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app may process and how it is used to provide navigation, radar, mapping, and team-status features.

1. Overview

CompassTrack is designed to work primarily offline on the device. Most navigation data is processed locally and is not transmitted to a server unless you actively use optional features such as team sessions, OAuth sign-in, or remote operational sync.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use the app for advertising or behavioral profiling. The app may process location, device, and operational data only to provide core functionality and, when enabled, to support team coordination.

2. Information the app may process

3. How data is used

CompassTrack uses the data above to provide core features such as:

In offline mode, the app typically keeps this information on the device and does not send it to a remote service. If you choose to connect to a mission or team server, data may be transmitted to that server to enable shared location, target, and status updates.

4. Local storage

The app stores user preferences, saved waypoints, notes, configuration, and other local settings on the device. This is intentional and supports offline operation in the field. Local storage is used for quick access when cellular coverage, internet access, or remote infrastructure is unavailable.

The app may also keep local session history, operational state, and cached target information on the device until the user clears it or no longer needs it. Local data retention depends on the device, app settings, and any explicit user action to delete or reset data.

5. Optional server transmission and team coordination

CompassTrack can connect to a configured operational server or team backend for features such as shared sessions, live targets, and status reports. When those features are enabled, the following information may be sent to the connected service:

If you do not join a shared session or do not connect to a configured server, the app remains primarily local and does not rely on remote network processing. The service owner or your organization is responsible for the privacy practices of any server you choose to connect to.

6. Third-party services and advertising

CompassTrack is not designed to monetize user data through advertising. The app does not use ad tracking networks or behavioral advertising services as part of its core functionality.

If you connect to an external server provided by a team, operator, or organization, that server may have its own privacy policy and data handling rules. We encourage you to review the privacy terms of that service before joining a shared session.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect sensitive operational and location information. This includes secure OAuth-based authentication, encryption in transit for network communications where supported, and local device-level storage controls. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.

Users are responsible for keeping device access secure, especially when working with tactical, operational, or sensitive location data.

8. Data retention and deletion

Data retention depends on whether it is stored locally or on a connected service. Local waypoints, settings, and session information may remain on the device until you remove them or reset the app. Data transmitted to an operational server is subject to the server operator's retention and deletion policy.

If you want to remove local data, use the app's settings or device-level data reset options to delete saved customizations, waypoints, or session history. If you are connected to a team server, you may also need to leave or delete the session from that service to stop sharing data.

9. Your choices

You can generally control the app's privacy footprint by:

If you do not consent to location access, some navigation features may be limited or may fall back to simulated data. The app is designed to be useful offline, but some real-time positional functions require access to GPS and orientation data.

10. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as new features are added or as the app's operational requirements change. We will revise the "Last updated" date when material changes are made. Continued use of the app after changes are posted indicates acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Contact information

For questions about this Privacy Policy, local data handling, or app functionality, please contact the developer through the support or project channels linked in the app or repository documentation.

CompassTrack is a field-focused navigation tool. This policy is intended to describe the app's actual behavior as implemented for on-device navigation, local waypoint management, and optional operational data sharing.
